Project FUTSAL & European Cooperation Day 2012

The pupils of Newtown Junior School, Waterford, Ireland, were treated to a football skills workshop from the trainees of the Project FUTSAL training hub in Waterford on 21st September.  Project FUTSAL is a joint initiative between the Football Association of Ireland and the Welsh Football Trust and is part-funded by the Ireland Wales Programme 2007-13.

The workshop took place on European Cooperation Day, also 21st September, to celebrate the positive impact of cross-border cooperation between European countries.

The event was part of the Meet Your Neighbours! initiative which brought Newtown Junior School together with Ferryside Primary School, Wales, via a live video link.

Project FUTSAL is concerned with advancing employability and education in young adults using football as a tool to attract learners.  There is also a strong emphasis on volunteering and contributing to local communities through sport.
