Regional Assemblies Annual Event

Brendan Howlin, TD, Minister for Public Expenditure & Reform acknowledged the successes of the Ireland Wales Programme at Ireland’s Regional Assemblies annual conference in Wexford on 28th November 2014.

Minister Howlin highlighted the contribution that the Ireland Wales Programme has made in enhancing cross-border relations between the two nations, and took the Walkways project, which creates pathways to employment for people with intellectual disabilities through targeted interventions, as successful example of what can be done with a relatively small amount of funding.

The conference provided delegates with up to date information on EU funding opportunities and the means of accessing EU funds, including funding opportunities available from the European Territorial Cooperation programmes and other European funds available directly from the EU.

The Regional Assemblies will continue to manage the ERDF co-funded Regional Programmes 2014-2020 which will provide investment in excess of €800m over the next 7 years as part of Ireland’s Partnership Agreement with the EU.  They will also continue to host the National Contact Points for several transnational INTERREG Programmes, including the Ireland-Wales Cooperation Programme 2014-20.
